Education Projects 2008-2014

Demolition Drawing:
Extended project involving seven local primary school classes visiting the demolition site of the Heygate Estate over one year to record their impressions and learn about the construction and demolition industry. Final artwork prepared for hoardings to be reproduced on dibond. 

Making a City:
Project involving 13 local primary schools. Each school built parts of their local area from recycled cardboard and paint culminating in a 5000 sq ft 3D cityscape of Southwark exhibited at Hotel Elephant Gallery. 

Victory School: “The Builders”
Year 5 and 6 children produce 2m colour paintings of builders and 6m panoramas of site for reproduction on 30m of dibond hoarding surrounding the site adjacent to the school. 

Elephant and Castle Panoramas:
One day drawing workshops with primary school children recording their neigbourhood. In conjunction with London College of Communication. Funded by Southwark Council. Large scale reproductions displayed in Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre. 20+ primary schools. 

St Peters School. Walworth. Romans, Tudors and Egyptians.
One day drawing and painting project in conjunction with class curriculum. 

Victory School. Signs and Maps:
Rodney Road SE!7. Large scale works by Victory School year six children reproduced on hoardings surrounding the demolition site adjacent to the school. 

Primary Bankers: Siobhan Davies Dance School. Collaborative project.
Small groups of Year 5 and 6 children learn observational drawing and produce a larg scale 3D painting of Elephant and Castle used in a performance at Siobhan Davies Dance School. 

Elephant and Nun Festival. Family Drawing Day.
Drawing workshop from Hotel Elephant Gallery terrace open to the public. Easels donated by Cass Arts. 

Reuben has worked with more than 20 primary and secondary schools in Southwark.
